Egg Drop
Using
boxes of all sizes and shapes, filled with all kinds of packing materials,
seventh grade students worked in teams to create containers that
would protect a raw egg from a fall out of a helicopter.
On April 23, 2004, Lee Butz provided us with his helicopter for the
afternoon, and the students were eager to test their creations.
We
loaded the containers and dropped them from 400 feet in the air onto
a field outside Schnecksville Elementary School. We were all amazed
that over 50% of the eggs survived. Perhaps we need to make the box
building more challenging!
