Goals of Parkland's Elementary Enrichment Program

To expand and deepen student knowledge of content not ordinarily taught in the basic curriculum.
To develop higher level thinking skills.
To develop inquiry an research skills.
To develop creativity
To improve the meta cognitive processes.  (Thinking about how one thinks.)
To use learning strategies and a variety of different learning modalities that involve high level of peer interaction.

 

Kindergarten

The teacher of the gifted visits kindergarten classes once a week.  During that time, they work with small flexible groups of children.  The main goal in kindergarten is to observe and monitor students who might qualify for the enrichment program.

Student will learn and explore economic principles of the stock market.

Student will participate in Stock Market Game through Temple University.

Students will participate in whale research simulation.
