Parkland's goal is to provide elementary students with a variety of technology-related experiences that integrate the technology with instruction.  To accomplish this goal, technical applications are taught as part of an existing subject so students understand how technology can be a tool that makes them more productive in any subject area.

TV Studio 

Each school in Parkland School District has the capability of broadcasting programs from any part of the building for the entire school to watch and if they wanted, any of the other 9 schools, staff and students can also watch.
At Fogelsville, a team of 5th grade students, read announcements, birthdays and the lunch menu via the TV to the entire school at Fogelsville.  We call our broadcast:

 

 

Responsibilities included:

  • Two announcers  -  they type their broadcast information on a template, it is then imported into the teleprompt.
  • Camera Operator  -  moves the camera from one scene on the set to another, or zooms in and out on a particular object.
  • Broadcast System Box Operator  - 
    • Oversees that the camera operator and announcers are in sync with each other.
    • Make sure the microphones are on and working correctly.
    • Play any additional videos that are part on the broadcast for that day.
    All students along with two staff advisors are involved with setting up the different scene through out the school year.
