The Parkland School District Student Services Department believes
that school counseling services are an integral part of the total
educational program. Our school counseling program, in collaboration with
faculty, parents, and the community is designed to provide all students
with opportunities and resources to accomplish developmental tasks within
the areas of academic, career, and personal/social development needed to
become effective learners, achieve success in school, live successful and
rewarding lives, and develop into contributing members of society. The counseling program is developmental and systematic in nature
and is delivered through large group, small group, and individual
experiences. While school counselors establish and maintain this
educational program, its implementation is the responsibility of the
entire faculty and staff in collaboration with parents and the community. All students Kindergarten through twelfth grade will participate in
a planned, developmental school counseling program that is based on the
National Standards for School Counseling Programs. The program focuses on
three developmental components: academic development, career development,
and personal/social development. The Parkland School District Counselors believe in the dignity and
worth of all students and are committed to their role as advocates for
students in the educational setting. |
